Mt. Hiei

Rencho would study diligently while at Mt. Hiei. Mt. Hiei was known for its academic study and debate. Rencho would complete his studies and came to a realization and belief that the teachings of the One Vehicle (Lotus Sutra doctrine) established on Mt. Hiei by Saicho (founder of the Tendai order in Japan) must be restored. No one challenged him.
