DAY 5
October 7th Saturday
The Pilgrims would wake up to a much nicer day. The effects of the storm waning. We would visit many locations this day on the far side of Kamakura from our hotel.
After a ride in the cable car, we walked a short distance from Kamakura station. We were in the location of one of the old main boulevards of Kamakura. It was here that Nichiren Shonin stood on the street corner and proclaimed and thought the Dharma to the onlooking crowd. The spot is know as Komachi-Oji and the monument there is shown below. We chanted the jigage then when on to visit our first Temple of the day.

Myohon Ji was a short walk from Komachi-Oji and was a beautiful Temple snuggled into the hillside of Kamakura.
After a very nice visit we went on to Ankokuron Ji.
After our visit the rest of the day was free time. Some went shopping, others went to more Temples and shrines and still others headed to the beach to splash in the waves of the ocean.
Tori Gate of Hachimangu Jinja (shrine). (below) Some of the members visiting this very popular shrine. During the Tatsunokuchi persecution, Nichiren Shonin being escorted to the execution grounds passed Hachiman Jinja. The current Hachimangu Jinja is not the same shrine that Nichiren Shonin passed by. It is the same deity. The shrine that he passed was closer to the beach.

After a busy but very memorable day, the group relaxed. We would be heading to Minobu in the morning. Stopping at a couple more historical and important Temples to the Nichiren lineage.
