DAY 2

October 4th Wednesday


The Pilgrims got up early for a good breakfast then a long bus ride to Chiba prefecture. There they would visit the Temple marking the birthplace of Nichiren Shonin then on to the Temple where Nichiren Shonin became a monk and proclaimed the Wonderful Dharma to begin this order of Buddhism.

Breakfast at the hotel. Then to our bus. The bus would be our major form of transportation while in Japan.

A rest stop along the way. The rest stops along the freeways in Japan have restaurants, shops and recycle areas for all those cans and bottles you accumulate from the stores.

Tanjo-Ji

Preparing to enter our first Temple. Tanjo-Ji is the birthplace of Nichiren Shonin. To see more of visit to Tanjo-Ji please click on the picture above.

The bay of Kominato. This is the location of the village that Nichiren Shonin grew up in.

Seicho-Ji

We would finish day 2 at Seicho-Ji (Kiyosumi-Dera). Above you see the group in front of the main gate to this very historical Temple. This temple is were Nichiren Shonin took vows and became a minister under Dozen-bo. He would also declare the wonderful Dharma at this location which marks the beginning of the Nichiren Order.
