Here is our first newsletter for 2007 and this month's announcements.
NEW YEAR'S DAY SERVICE FOR 2007
The New Year's Day Service for 2007 will be held on Monday, January 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Eternal Buddha and Nichiren Shonin for the
New Year by chanting the Lotus Sutra and the Odaimoku.
If you have a Gyoe, please wear it at the service. If you do not have a Gyoe, it is
available for a $50 donation.
FUJINKAI MEETING ON JANUARY 7
The Fujinkai meeting will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 9:00 a.m.
NEW YEAR KITO SERVICE ON JANUARY 7
The New Year Kito Service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. We
encourage you to attend the service with your family and friends.
OTAKIAGE SERVICE ON JANUARY 14
The Otakiage Service will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 9:00 am. The Otakiage is
a ceremony to burn old Buddhist images or articles, such as old Ofuda or Omamori (amulets)
which have become too old or deteriorated to keep. These things are to be burned and not
to be thrown away. If you have any of these items, you may bring them to the Temple and
offer your prayers with gratitude during the Otakiage.
DIRECTORS' MEETING ON JANUARY 14
The Directors' meeting will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2007 after the Combined
Service.
TRAFFIC SAFETY KITO ON JANUARY 21
The Traffic Safety Kito will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2007 after the Combined
Service. Please bring your cars to be blessed for safety on the road throughout the year.
SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETING ON JANUARY 28
The Sunday School meeting will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 9:00 a.m.
REV. CHISHIN HIRAI ASSIGNED TO NICHIREN BUDDHIST INTERNATIONAL CENTER, HAYWARD,
CALIFORNIA.
Rev. Chishin Hirai will be leaving for the Nichiren Buddhist International Center at the
end of January 2007. Our temple was fortunate to have him and his wife, Ritsuko for 7
years. We appreciate his contributions and extend our heartfelt gratitude. We pray for his
success in Hayward.
JOINT NEW YEAR'S PARTY ON JANUARY 28
Members and friends of the Nichiren Mission of Hawaii, Honolulu Myohoji, and Wahiawa
Nichiren Mission are invited to attend the Joint New Year's Party to be held on Sunday,
January 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Nichiren Mission of Hawaii. The cost is $12 for per
person. For further details, please check the enclosed application form. Also, the party
will be a combined farewell party for Rev. Hirai. Please join us.

We are pleased to send you the 2007 calendar with this newsletter. There may be unexpected
schedule changes during the year, so please watch for any schedule changes in our monthly

NONA (Nichiren Buddhist Order of North America) Dharma Conference will be held at the
Nichiren Buddhist International Center on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
to Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. They have invited a special guest, Professor Kenyo
Mitomo of Rissho University. He will talk about the relationship between the Lotus Sutra,
Hellenism and Christianity. Deadline is on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007. For more details,
please ask the office.
