NICHIREN
SHONIN'S WORDS
The fundamental key to enter the path to Buddhism is faith.
"Hokke-Daimoku-Sho" (1266)
Today, we are living with a flood of information that causes us to doubt what is true.
However, you have to have absalute faith in the Buddha from the beginning if you want to
know what Buddhism is all about and to enjoy perfect eternal happiness which is the
Enlightenment. Faith is the only key that opens the door to Buddhism.HELLO!
How have you been? The fall season has arrived in Hawaii and it is
getting cooler day by day. Please take care of yourself.
This is the month of Oeshiki. Here are this month's announcements.
OESHIKI SERVICE ON OCTOBER 8
Oeshiki Service will be held on Sunday, October 8 from 10:00 a.m.
Oeshiki Service is a memorial service for Nichiren Shonin, our Founder. This will be his
725th memorial service. In 1282, Nichiren Shonin became ill and left Minobu in order to
find a cure for his ailment at the hot springs in the province of Hitachi, the present
Ibaraki Pref. On September 18, on his way to Hitachi, he arrived at Ikegami in Tokyo. He
became critically ill and passed away there on October 13.
Oeshiki is one of the most important of all services at our Temple. During the service, as
Nichiren Shu followers, let's reflect upon Nichiren Shonin's contributions to the world
and their significance in our daily activities. Please wear your "Gyo-e".
FUJINKAI MEETING ON OCTOBER 1
