SHONIN'S WORDS
The Lotus Sutra is the best of all teachings of Sakyamuni Buddha.
"Nishiyamadono-gokeama-gozen-gohenji"HELLO!
We had big earthquakes in the morning of Oct. 15th. We hope you and
your family are OKay and nothing serious happened. Japanese proverb says, "Disaster
comes when we forget it." We don't know when the next one is coming. We have to be
ready for it at anytime. Please be careful.Here is our November Newsletter.
EITAIKYO SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 12
The annual Eitaikyo Service (Perpetual Memorial Service) will be held
on Sunday, November 12, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. The Eitaikyo Service is held for the deceased
who are registered on our perpetual memorial list. More than 400 deceased have been
registered since the Eitaikyo Service was started in 1990. We have been praying for them
every year so that they may attain Buddhahood. Please do your best to join us with your
family on that day.
FUJINKAI MEETING ON NOVEMBER 5
Fujinkai meeting will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 9:00 am.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS ON NOVEMBER 5
Sunday School Class will be held on November 5, 2006 during the Monthly
Kito service. Please attend the service with your children and grandchildren!
FUJINKAI MINI BAZAAR ON NOVEMBER 19
Fujinkai will hold its mini bazaar on Sunday, November 19th after the
combined service. There will be many craft items, baked goods, patch work, small plants
and others on sale, so please come.
DIRECTORS' MEETING ON NOVEMBER 19
Directors' meeting will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2006 following
the Combined service.
SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETING ON NOVEMBER 26
Sunday School meeting will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 9:00
a.m.
NOTICE FROM FUJINKAI
The ladies of Nichiren Fujinkai will once again participate in the City
& County Mayor's Fair on Saturday, November 18, 2006. We are, therefore, requesting
your help and donations of handmade craft items, baked goods, patch work, small plants and
pickled items. Due to the Board of Health restrictions, bentos and sushi will not be sold.
Please see Mrs. Aoki with any questions or donations. Thank you.

Nichiren Shu Headquarters in Japan and the Bridge published by Nichiren Buddhist
International Center in California.
DONATION DRIVE FOR WATER AND CAN AND DRY FOOD FOR
A NEXT DISASTER
We all now understand that we would face disasters at anytime. If a
major disaster should occur here, Betsuin would serve as a shelter for members and
neighbors. Our Board of Directors decided that we should prepare with water and food. We
would like donations of water and goods which we can keep for more than one year at room
temperature, please check on the expiration date of donated items. Please contact Betsuin
first.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUES
The annual membership dues are $10.00 per month or $120.00 per year.
Our Temple is maintained by your membership fee so we would appreciate your kokua in this
matter. Thank you.
VISITATION INFORMATION
The ministers are planning to continue their visits to the Liliha
Health Care Center and the Island Nursing Home on the third Tuesday of every month. We are
looking for members who wish to accompany the ministers to visit nursing homes. The
residents of the nursing homes are so happy to see many visitors so, please see the
ministers if you wish to do so.
REMINDER
Since the registers and calendars for appointments and scheduling of
services are maintained in the office, FOR ALL NON-EMERGENCY CASES, you are encouraged to
call 595-3517 during our office hours from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Calls to the office will help
us to serve you more efficiently. Thank you. |
