Simple Explanations

For more detailed explanations of Nichiren Shu style services please visit the Nichiren Buddhist International Center's site. NBIC

Sunday Service:

During our regular Sunday Service we chant portions of chapter 2 and 16 from the Lotus Sutra and also chant the Odaimoku (Namu Myoho Renge Kyo). The chapters from the Lotus Sutra are read in the traditional way (Chinese Characters with Japanese pronunciation).

Kito Blessing:

Kito Blessings are offered by ministers who have gone to a special 100 day monastery. These blessings are administered for health and well being. The service is similar to regular Sunday Service with the Kito Blessing added. If you would like to receive the blessing please come a few minutes early and talk with the minister. You may attend the service without receiving the Kito blessing.

Meditation:

Meditation services in the Nichiren Shu are called Shodaigyo. These services are a combination of silent meditation with chanting of the Odaimoku (Namu Myoho Renge Kyo).

Study Class:

Classes are offered in the Lotus Sutra, the main scripture of our faith and Nichiren doctrine. Everyone is welcome to participate and encouraged to come and learn more about our faith.
